A Father’s Blessing: The Lifelong Impact a Dad Has on His Children

The River Church Community and WestGate Church are partnering to provide fathers a special opportunity to become better dads.

On June 30th, Keith Zafren, founding and former lead pastor of The River, and now founder of The Great Dads Project, will be leading this seminar for men, whatever your background, relational status or faith.

This seminar will help you:

  • Better understand the powerful, life-long influence of a father
  • Love your kids in a way that sticks (makes them know and feel it)
  • Learn how to bless your children in meaningful and effective ways.

Keith's expertise is transforming fathers into dads—effective and fulfilled dads who enjoy remarkably great relationships with their kids—and teaching men how to receive and give a father's blessing. Keith founded The Great Dads Project, an organization embracing men of all backgrounds, relational status and faiths, with this vision. He is now a speaker, writer and fathering coach. Keith and his wife Debbie have been married for 19 years and have three boys ages 14, 12, and 10.

As a pastor for 23 years, Keith worked with hundreds of fathers and children on family issues. Since leaving The River to pursue Ph.D. work, Keith has spent a lot of time in prison, not as an incarcerated criminal, but as a fatherhood trainer, teaching, inspiring, and coaching convicted felons to become great dads. He trained 600 men who reestablished and improved their relationships with approximately 2,000 children, many of whom received their father's love, acceptance and blessing for the first time. If he can transform felons into great dads he can certainly help dads who need a lot less assistance.

Keith captures much of this in his soon to be published book, A Father’s Blessing.

Bobby Colombo, a father whom Keith coached, helping him reconnect with his two children and become the dad he longed to be—the dad he never had—shares:

Keith coached me for three years. He is an excellent teacher, and even better father, as he leads by example. I moved forward light years in my fathering skills because of what I learned from Keith. After just a few minutes of his teaching, you’ll know that his special calling is to help men become great dads.

The seminar will be held at WestGate Church in the Gym on June 30th from 9am – 1:55pm, including lunch. Doors open at 8:30am for coffee and continental breakfast, teaching begins promptly at 9:00am. Cost to attend is $30 before June 23, $40 afterwards and at the door. Space is limited. Registration fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, and some take home materials.
